Magic Mountain remains one of the favorite ski areas in central Vermont. Often hailed as the quintessential classic small ski area, Magic Mountain has some of the most challenging terrain you’ll find on the East Coast combined with a down to earth and friendly community. Located near Londonderry, there’s no shortage of Magic Mountain lodging to be found, including a great on-site lodge.

Upper Pass Lodge

Magic Mountain may be a small ski area, but it doesn’t ski or feel like one. That includes the on-site hotel, the Upper Pass Lodge. With ski in/out service leading right onto the slopes, you’d expect to pay a premium. Instead, you get extremely reasonable rates for each of the 20 deluxe rooms. Each room has a private bath and free coffee and pastries in the morning. Classic Vermont architecture combines with wood panels and rich tones to lend elegance to the entire lodge. Whether you’re traveling alone, with a friend, or have the entire family along, there’s a room at the Upper Pass Lodge to suit you. Families can sleep in the Family Deluxe room that features two doubles and a set of bunk beds. The two bedroom deluxe room has a queen and two doubles, and standard rooms have two doubles. All rooms have plenty of space to store your skis or boards. And after a long day skiing, head into the Red Slate for some après ski food and drinks.

Off-Site Options

The whimsically named Frog’s Leap Inn is about ten minutes’ drive from Magic Mountain. Resting on 32 acres of fields, forested trails and gardens, you’ll want to find time after skiing for a relaxing walk around the grounds. There are 4 queen rooms and 4 suites available to rent, each with a private bath. The common area in the home has a wood burning fireplace and ample comfortable seating to relax in while you drift away to the sound of the fire. For an even more secluded option, the Tad Pool House has a two bedroom apartment with a private deck. It also has a full kitchen. Even with the kitchen, the Tad Pool House (and the other rooms too) comes with a full country breakfast every morning.

For a more classic motel stay, the Magic View Motel is only a few minutes from the slopes. This Magic Mountain lodging offers 18 motel units and 1 apartment. The rooms feature two doubles or you can get a family room with two bunk beds. There’s a common area where a complimentary continental breakfast is served every morning. The rooms are warm and cozy; if you’re looking for a simple place to stay, the Magic View Motel will fit the bill and then some.

The Snowdon Chalet is another simple motel that is also dog friendly. 12 guest rooms with large windows and private baths let you relax in simple comfort. This Magic Mountain lodging offers the choice between two doubles, a king, a single double, or a family room with one queen and two twin beds. The Chalet offers a free continental breakfast every morning and unlimited tea, coffee, and hot chocolate in the lobby. There’s also a grill available for guest use. Second story units have balconies where you can sit and enjoy the quiet evenings. Don’t forget to get your cookies when you check in.

No matter where you stay when you’re skiing at Magic Mountain, you’re going to find something to love. From a romantic getaway at one of the numerous bed & breakfasts, to a simple motel room, you’re going to love your vacation. Just remember to start planning early to make sure you can get the room and deal that’s right for you.
